Apply for NIH Pragmatic Trials Collaboratory Fellowship by December 30

The NIH Pragmatic Trials Collaboratory announced a new fellowship program for early-career investigators (including post-docs and junior faculty) from underrepresented minority groups with a scholarly interest in pragmatic clinical trials (PCTs).

The fellowship will provide a unique setting with a concentration of expertise in conducting PCTs through virtual interaction with the coordinating center (MICHR’s Clinical and Translational Science Award [CTSA] partners at Duke), NIH, and funded investigators leading NIH PCT trials, with the intent to prepare fellows to submit an application for NIH funding for a pragmatic trial in their clinical area of interest.

Two fellows will be supported over a one-year period (July 2023-June 2024). Fellows will receive coverage of 50% of their U-M salary for their NIH effort and a modest discretionary fund for travel to relevant conferences.

Fellows will become integrated members of the NIH Collaboratory program and will have access to a wide range of activities and opportunities. Each fellow will become an active participant in one NIH Collaboratory Core that aligns with their interests. They will be given education on the fundamentals of designing and conducting successful PCTs. Working with a Demonstration Project investigator mentor and a Core Leadership mentor from the NIH Collaboratory, each fellow will complete a project that contributes to the field of PCTs, resulting in a new publishable product or resource.

Fellows will participate in the following activities:

  • Regular presentations and discussions with experienced PCT investigators and leaders in the field

  • Individualized coursework and mentorship

  • Guided research program

  • Professional development training

  • Presentations and publication opportunities

  • Training on health equity as it relates to PCTs

Applications must be submitted via the online portal no later than December 30, 2022. Interested? Please email Rachel Richesson
