MICHR Helping Recruit for International COVID-19 Vaccine Clinical Trial

Michigan Medicine is partnering with sponsor AstraZeneca in a multi-site, international effort researching an investigational vaccine for the prevention of COVID-19. MICHR's Participant Recruitment team is working with the Clinical Trials Support Office and other units on this clinical trial, which is recruiting volunteers on UMHealthResearch.org site. More than 4,800 people have already shown interest in participating.

The Phase 3 clinical trial is enrolling up to 30,000 adults aged 18 years or over to evaluate the investigational vaccine AZD1222.  All vaccines must be tested in clinical research studies before they can be approved for public use. Without people volunteering to participate in clinical studies, we cannot advance vaccine research.
