The Michigan Institute for Clinical & Health Research (MICHR) has been accepted into the Midwest Area Research Consortium for Health (MARCH). MICHR joins six other institutions that hold NIH Clinical & Translational Science Awards (CTSA) in facilitating multi-site research studies and cross-CTSA collaborations to promote efficient, effective, and demographically-balanced research.

“MICHR is proud to be part of MARCH and strengthen collaborative partnerships with other CTSAs in the Great Lakes area,” said George Mashour, MD, PhD, Associate Dean for Clinical and Translational Research, and MICHR Executive Director. “We anticipate accelerating additional discoveries toward better health by sharing research and expertise with one another.”

MARCH members include: University of Minnesota, Mayo Clinic, Indiana University, The Ohio State University, Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, University of Wisconsin-Madison, and the University of Michigan.

MICHR joined the CTSA consortium in 2007 and actively engages with other clinical and translational science institutes. Recently, MICHR led the “Enhancing Clinical Research Professionals’ Training and Qualifications” project. Representatives from all CTSAs collaborated to promote safer and higher-quality multi-site clinical trials by standardizing Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training modules for all CTSA investigators.

In addition to Dr. Mashour, faculty and staff representing U-M in MARCH include Teri Grieb, Judy Birk, Jing Liu, Kevin Weatherwax, Rula Karapatsakis, Jim Maszatics, Kanchan Lota, Amanda Phelps, Kim Redic, Kelley Kidwell, and Monica Lewis.
